Being gluten-free is a challenge. Whether you are doing it by choice or as an essential part of your health, finding quick, easy and tasty gluten-free options can seem impossible. However, here in the LBK, there are several local restaurants that prioritize offering gluten-free food. Check out the list below for some of the best gluten-free options in the “Hub City!”

Dirk’s

Gluten-Free Fried Chicken Strips

Dirk’s, a modern spin on an “old diner,” aims to provide customers with a more  health-conscious, locally sourced food alternative. This iconic diner honors the owner, Chef West’s grandfather, Dirk West, by featuring his cartoons of characters like Raider Red and parodies of other Southwest Conference competitors. Providing gluten-free alternatives is a priority of Chef West. Therefore, almost all menu items can be made gluten free. Chef West even has separate friers to ensure the food is not susceptible to cross-contamination. My favorite is their gluten-free fried chicken strips with ranch!

Capital Pizza

Zucchini Pizza

Capital Pizza, most famously located in the Tech Terrace neighborhood, features a variety of gourmet pizzas, sandwiches, salads and over one hundred craft beers. Order a gluten-free pizza either with cauliflower crust or, my favorite, zucchini crust. You won’t be disappointed.

Picoso’s

Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas

This local Mexican food place has an entire gluten-free menu! With countless options, if you are unsure what to order, the sour cream chicken enchiladas are to die for.

Albarran’s

Shredded Chicken Hatch Green Chile Enchiladas

Albarran’s serves the classic Tex-Mex food that we all know and love. The shredded chicken hatch green chile enchiladas are a great gluten-free option, as well as anything made with corn tortillas. Gluten-free guests can safely indulge on chips and salsa, as the tortilla chips are gluten free!

Evie Mae’s

Everything!

After its owner was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, Evie Mae’s was created to serve a need for his family. A fully gluten-free restaurant, everything on the menu is safe and delicious, but the classic sliced brisket with a side of green beans and cornbread can’t be beat!

One Guy’s

Cauliflower Crust Pizza

One Guy’s is a Lubbock staple and just because you are gluten free does not mean you have to miss out on this experience. Order their cauliflower crust pizza and you will be surprised to find that you will not be able to tell the difference.

Ninety-Two Bakery & Cafe

Avocado Toast

At Ninety-Two Bakery & Cafe, any sandwich can be switched to have gluten-free bread, making your breakfast, brunch and lunch options endless. Their avocado toast is a fan favorite and pairs perfectly with the aesthetically pleasing atmosphere of the French bakery.

Orlando’s

Chicken & Rice Alfredo

Orlando’s has been sharing its family Italian recipes with Lubbock since October 1965. Usually, Italian food is to be avoided because pretty much all of it includes gluten. But, if requested, Oralndos can make you a gluten-free dish with their famous alfredo sauce, chicken, and rice.

Triple J Chophouse and Brewery

Cauliflower Pizza

This steakhouse and brewery is located in downtown Lubbock across from the famous Blue Light and Cactus Theater. Each pizza can be made keto-friendly/gluten free.

Brulee Bakery

Pumpkin Maple Cupcakes, Brownie Cookies & Iced Lemon Cookies

This new bakery in Tech Terrace has several gluten-free sweets that are to die for. With seasonal selections like the pumpkin maple cupcake and tried-and-true options like the brownie cookie and iced lemon cookie, there are a variety of ways to conquer your craving.
