They’re baaaaaack. After long-awaited anticipation, Harrigan’s Prime Grill is now officially re-opened! This Lubbock favorite is serving up the same high quality of service, mouth-watering food and hand-crafted libations that Lubbockites remember (those zucchini chips, am I right?).

After opening their doors last month, I had been chomping at the bit (quite literally) to eat here. Well, the heavens answered and I finally had my chance this past weekend to have dinner with a couple of friends. Since we did not make a reservation, we arrived around 5:30pm to beat the dinner rush. The atmosphere was welcoming, with a more modernized, contemporary vibe, yet still reminiscent of the former location on 50th Street.

French Martini

We decided to begin our meal with a little imbibing. After perusing the Summer Cocktail menu, we decided on the French Martini – a stout yet refreshing mix of vodka, chambord and pineapple juice – and a couple of St. Germain Martinis, which consisted of the perfect mix of St. Germain elderflower liqueur, vodka and lemon juice.

Zucchini Chips

For an appetizer, we naturally had to order the famous Zucchini Chips, and we also may or may not have decided to get a second appetizer, the Sizzling Mushrooms (CHEAT DAY, THO). Both were the perfect way to kick off the meal! The Zucchini Chips were thin-sliced, fried heaven, paired with a side of ranch for dipping. The Sizzling Mushrooms came out literally sizzling in a skillet, topped with a generous portion of melted parmesan and fresh chives. Those two appetizers, paired with the complimentary homemade bread, were easily a meal in itself.

For one of our entrees, we decided to go with the Pasta a la Van, a huge helping of al dente Penne noodles and sauteed garlic vegetables, topped with succulent, grilled shrimp and parmesan cheese – easily enough for two meals.

Chicken del Mar

For our second entree, we chose the Chicken del Mar, a.k.a, a freakin’ party in your mouth. It consisted of a golden fried chicken breast, smothered with a creamy red bell pepper sauce, loaded with luxurious crab and shrimp. It also came with a side of rice pilaf and sauteed vegetables. I’m happy to report I cleaned the plate.

Lastly, since we obviously needed more to feast upon, we got a bowl of the Prime Rib & Mushroom Soup, a rich and savory concoction, with a generous helping of sliced prime rib and mushrooms, topped with fresh-cut chives. And it was delicious, folks.

All in all, we had a great dinner experience! The service, food and beverages were on point. If you haven’t stopped by Harrigan’s Prime Grill yet, I’d suggest you get there in a hurry.
