It’s all happening in the LBK! Summer marks one of the best seasons in this legendary West Texas town and birthplace of world-renowned rock and roll legend Buddy Holly. From lively performances and music acts to beer and wine festivals and family-friendly events, follow our summer guide to seasonal happenings in Lubbock, Texas, to learn what’s coming up.

Live Music and Performance Arts Shows

Start your summer adventure in Lubbock by visiting The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts & Sciences. This state-of-the-art venue features two theaters with a perfect acoustic value of NC15 showcasing a lineup of Broadway performances like Hamilton in July. With a local bistro, Rave On, connected to the performance center, visitors can create an enchanting evening from craft cocktails and local fare to international performances. Named for Lubbock’s favorite son, Buddy Holly, this venue serves as the cornerstone of the Arts District in downtown Lubbock.

Down in the Depot Entertainment District, Cactus Theater serves as an intimate musical venue for local talent and touring acts. Once a classic movie theater built in the 1920s, complete with neon, glowing signs and a traditional magnetic marquee, there is a new show practically every night of the week. This summer, visitors will see everything from a comedy show to a tribute to Guns ‘N’ Roses.

Cook’s Garage, a venue in South Lubbock, has quickly become the hub for concertgoers. From vintage oil signs and classic road logos to an impressive collection of vintage cars, this homegrown restaurant has made a name for itself by hosting popular musical acts. More than your typical Texas bar and grill, they offer live music every day of the week! The stage is set this summer for shows with Brett Young, Pat Green and more.

Be sure to check the event calendars for these venues to plan and purchase your tickets in advance.

Laid-back vibes continue at McPherson Cellars, an urban winery located in downtown Lubbock with over 600 state, national and international awards. In fact, McPherson Cellars converted the 1930s-era Coca-Cola bottling plant into its very own downtown location. Be sure to toast to the sunny weather at Patio Nights in the summer on Thursdays where you will savor Texas High Plains vino and live music.
