Labor Day weekend is almost upon us, and even those of us who just went back to school are breathing a sigh a relief, thinking about the holiday ahead. For most of us, Labor Day marks the end of summer, the ramping up of another football season (wreck ’em, Tech) and an extended weekend, but according to history.com, it was created to honor the contributions and achievements of American workers. If you’re hanging out in the “Hub City” for our three-day weekend, here are some ways you can celebrate!
- Go create some prints on paper and listen to some fresh tunes at Friday Night POP from 7:00pm – 9:00pm (Camp Studio 4, 1010 Mac Davis Lane)
- Pick up some local produce or some grass-fed steaks for grillin’ at the Lubbock Downtown Famers Market from 9:00am until 1:00pm (19th Street & Buddy Holly Avenue)
- Tailgate at the Jones Stadium for the Texas Tech game
- Unwind at The Garden for the largest Sunday Funday party in the 806. There will be free hot dogs and cheese burgers starting at 5:00pm (1801 Buddy Holly Avenue)
No matter how you choose to celebrate, I hope the most labor you do this weekend is raising a glass to all the work you’ve accomplished this year.
