Sun’s up, and there is no better day spent than one at the lake! For you outdoor enthusiasts, we’ve put together a list of all the ways to spend those sunny “Hub City” days, be it a sunny afternoon or an entire weekend at the lake.

A Quick Dip
If you only have a few hours of adventuring, grab a picnic and enjoy lunch by the water this summer at Ransom Canyon or Buffalo Springs Lake.

Spend some time swimming at two beaches included in your admission at Buffalo Springs Lake.

And, explore nature with family-friendly trails and adrenaline packed caves. Be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen!

A Day on the Water
Looking to take the boat or jet skis out? You’ve got a few choices of where to cruise the water. A 15-minute drive east brings you to Buffalo Springs Lake. Here, you can boat or fish with access to the park all day, every day.

Another option for boaters is Lake Alan Henry, which is about an hour drive down US Highway 84. Regardless of where you decide to spend your day on the water, remember to be a good neighbor. Look out for other boats, and be sure to wear a life jacket.

Pro tip: Make sure to pack ropes to tie off at the dock, and check your boat’s battery before taking off.

A Weekend Getaway
Sometimes all you need is to unplug and escape to the beauty of nature. Whether you are camping in a tent or hooking up the RV, Buffalo Springs Lake welcomes all campers. Be sure to make online reservations for your camping adventure. For the camping-averse travelers, there are restrooms with showers on site.

And, don’t forget to bring along your pup, but don’t forget to pack the leash!

Now is the time to start planning for your trip to the lake this summer. For more ways to make the most of your summer in the “Hub City” follow along with us on social and share your favorite ways to explore the 806 using #LiveLoveLubbock!
