Lubbock’s Guide for Graduation Weekend

As the spring semester comes to a close and your time at Texas Tech, Lubbock Christian or South Plains comes to an end, it’s time to celebrate all you have accomplished! Check out our guide to graduation weekend for where to stay, what to do, and how to best showcase your home away from home to your family.

Places for your family to stay:

There are many great places for your family to stay when coming to town. Consider staying downtown at the Cotton Court Hotel, Pioneer Pocket Hotel, or the DoubleTree by Hilton. For an option closer to campus, The Overton Hotel & Conference Center is a great option. Each hotel offers a little West Texas flair.

Relax the night before with family and friends. 

This weekend is all about the graduate. Gather together in one of our local wineries like McPherson Cellars and Burklee Hill Vineyards, or check out a brewery like Two Docs Brewing Co or The Brewery LBK. From our top-rated local wineries to our cozy, family-friendly breweries, there is no wrong answer for the perfect spot to relax before your big day. 

Restaurants for the whole family. 

With everyone’s family in Lubbock, sometimes finding the perfect spot to fit the whole crew is hard. Make a reservation in advance or call a week ahead for your favorite restaurants. Funky Door, Orlando’s, Caprock Cafe, and Triple J’s Chophouse are some of our local go-to restaurants that can accommodate large groups. 

If you’re looking to cater from local restaurants for your graduation party, Lubbock is home to many delicious options. Cast Iron grill offers traditional West Texas home cooking and Dirk’s dishes up mouth-watering fried chicken! Remember to end your graduation festivities with cupcakes or custom cakes from The Ruffled Cup Lubbock or another local dessert shop. 

Last Drinks on Broadway

Broadway Street has classic college bars, whether you want to grab a drink with friends or bring the entire fam for a celebratory shot. You won’t want to miss celebrating your big day the traditional Lubbock way. Have a margarita at Chimys, grab a drink at Crickets or walk over to Logies; there is no wrong way to celebrate!
