At Lubbock Christian University (LCU), there is one event that defines the student culture, creates an atmosphere of collaborative competition and reminds alumni of the pride they have for their social club and school. That event is famously known as Master Follies.

Master Follies is one of LCU’s longest-standing traditions that not only reflects the character of the school but the camaraderie and spirit that is held between students, faculty and alumni. Since 1959, this a cappella singing competition where students prepare parodies of popular songs that are performed with costumes, sets and choreography, has created a following that far reaches outside the city limits of Lubbock, Texas.

Each spring, 25 – 50 students from eight unique social groups on LCU’s campus showcase their six-minute musical act in hopes of winning first place as well as the coveted People’s Choice Award at the end of the performance packed weekend.

A Master Follies attendee can expect nothing less than excitement and variety. The goal for the clubs competing is to captivate their audience and take them on a journey that transcends time and the realm of possibility in less than six minutes. From concept, comedy and the element of surprise, the audience has much to look forward to when entering the Moody Auditorium on Follies night.

Master Follies 2021 “The Show Must Go On” will be a free, live-streamed event on February 20, 2021 from 7:00 p.m. – 9 p.m. Things will look a bit different this year, but the spirit of Follies will remain the same!
