Downtown Lubbock Date Night

I don’t know about you, but there is something about the thought of date night that makes me all giddy inside. Getting ready for our nights on the town still give me butterflies like when we first met. Even as newlyweds, I look forward to our quality time experiencing something new Lubbock has to offer. My husband, Trevor, and I live in Post, Texas, which is approximately 40 minutes from the fabulous downtown scene in Lubbock, Texas. This makes coming into the city a weekly adventure that I look forward to!

Saturday night is the perfect time to relax and unwind from a long week of work. For dinner, we first made our way to one of downtown’s newest restaurants, Dirk’s. Talk about delicious southern-style food. Their chicken strips and fried okra are to die for! Trevor and I ended up sharing both of our plates because we couldn’t choose which was our favorite. Honestly, anything on the menu is a great choice. This place is a definite must-try, but get there early because it fills up quick!

After our bellies were full and our boots on, we headed down to Buddy Holly Avenue to the Blue Light Live. This is one of our favorite nightlife activities as a couple in Lubbock. If you know me, you know I love country music and two-stepping with my hubby. The Blue Light Live is the perfect atmosphere for country-music lovers like myself. Here you will find many local artists showcasing their talents on center stage. Located in all of the hustle and bustle of downtown, the Blue Light is the place to be. 

There are many options when it comes to date night ideas in downtown Lubbock. For wine-lovers like us, try McPherson Cellars. If you are traveling and looking for a place to stay, consider a night at the Cotton Court Hotel. We cannot wait to venture out to experience these unique “Hub City” spots for our next date night!
