Did you know that in 2011, 5.23 million visitors came to Lubbock spending a total of $698.5 million? We love that Lubbock is a hotspot for tourists from all over the world! In fact, in 2011, Lubbock ranked as the sixth most visited MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area) out of the top 26 MSAs in Texas according to a report by D.K. Shifflet & Associates.
With all of this in mind, Visit Lubbock is excited to kick off National Travel & Tourism Week beginning Saturday, May 4 and running through Sunday, May 12! We want you, the Lubbock community, to participate in National Travel & Tourism Week with us for an entire week by remembering to “Live Love Lubbock.” Our goal is to ask citizens to remember why they chose to live in Lubbock and why they love Lubbock.
How to Participate:
The first way to participate is to visit livelovelubbock.org to download our itinerary card to play the Live Love Lubbock Itinerary Game. Grab your family and friends, and visit as many of the participating attractions on the card as you can. If you present the card at the participating attraction, you’ll receive a special discount in honor of National Travel & Tourism Week as well as a sticker. Fill up your card with stickers throughout the week and become eligible to win one of two outstanding “travel-specific” prizes. The Itinerary Game as well as the discounts will only be available during National Travel & Tourism Week: Saturday, May 4 through Sunday, May 12.
Aside from our Live Love Lubbock Itinerary Game, we are hosting special Live Love Lubbock Daily Deals throughout the week at local restaurants and shops. These deals are only available through Visit Lubbock’s social media channels, and individuals are encouraged to like or follow Visit Lubbock on Facebook and Twitter to find information about each day’s location. You might find your favorite ice cream shop or the clothing store you’ve been eyeing strike a deal for the day in honor of National Travel & Tourism Week.
Have a question about the week? Leave us a comment! Let’s all Live Love Lubbock together and join in on the celebration of National Travel & Tourism Week!
