Let freedom ring this weekend in the “Hub City”! The Fourth of July festivities in Lubbock are booming with pride – and it’s not just because of the fireworks. From parades touring downtown Lubbock and live music in Mackenzie Park, to backyard barbecues that make Independence Day our favorite holiday, it’s time to party like it’s 1776 in the 806! Check below for a complete schedule detailing this weekend’s celebrations you won’t want to miss.
Fireworks at Buffalo Springs Lake
Just 20 minutes southeast of Lubbock, Buffalo Springs Lake boasts a beautiful canyon lake where on July 2 as the sun sets, fireworks will illuminate the sky reflected in the water. Enjoy this magical experience by purchasing your tickets at the Buffalo Springs Lake admissions office before July 1. Tickets are $10 for children under 12 and $15 for adults.
31st Annual Fourth on Broadway
On Saturday, July 3, visitors and locals alike will begin lining Broadway, hoping to get the best seat on the street. To kick off a day of fun perfect for the whole family, the Sonic “Let Freedom Sing” Parade will begin at 9 a.m. Following the parade, be sure to head over to Mackenzie Park to take part in the following activities:
To wrap up this eventful day, sit back and relax as fireworks light up Lubbock’s sky at 10 p.m. at Mackenzie Park. This event is free to the public. For more information visit the Broadway Festivals website.
4th on the 5th Celebration
Head to Patterson Park in Wolfforth for the 4th on the 5th Celebration! With food trucks, live music from Dustin Garrett’s Electric Mambo and Gary Nix, and a firework show to wrap up the night, this is a great way to honor Uncle Sam! Admission is free.
