The 4th of July in the 806 is booming – and we aren’t just talking about the fireworks. Our town comes together to celebrate and party like it’s 1776! From banks to restaurants, everyone cheers on the red, white and blue. With a day filled with music, a parade, food and fireworks, we have a complete guide to the 4th of July celebrations this year! Get your snow cones and hot dogs ready, because you won’t want to miss a single second this Independence Day.


La Raza on the Plaza

The 4th of July can’t come soon enough! Lucky for us, we get to celebrate early at Amigos La Raza on the Plaza! Grab your lawn chairs and tickets to see AJ Castillo, Stefani and DJ Sancho.

Fibermax Texas Country Street Dance

The fun celebrations continue at the Texas Country Street Dance. Put on your dancin’ boots to enjoy the talented Charley Crockett, Kody West and Giovannie & The Hired Guns.

When:  July 3, 7:00 p.m.

July 5K & 10K

This virtual run is completed on your own. As you sign up you will be able to choose whether to participate in the 5K or the 10K. Once you complete the race on your own, you will submit your time, and your medal will be shipped to you. Complete this race anytime during July; however, it’s encouraged to complete it on the 4th. Your entry fee of $20 includes the medal, official bib, shipping, and a 15 percent entry fee donation to Homes for our Troops. Go get your run on! Learn more about Virtual Run Events.


4th on Broadway: Sonic Parade

Time:  9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Where:  Avenue M (see map above for more information)

The 4th on Broadway Sonic Parade is finally here! Nothing sounds better than a breakfast of delicious parade sweets and treats. While you are stuffing your face, make sure to keep an eye out for your favorite floats and classic cars!  In addition to the parade, there will be over 25 vendors with all your food and beverages.

What else to know:

  • Free parking! For detailed parking information, click here
  • $5 parking: South Plains Fairgrounds parking areas. Parking will be open from 7 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
  • Free shuttle bus service will be running between parking and the parade. It will be located at 899 Ave. A.
  • What to bring:  Lawn chairs, umbrellas and plenty of sunscreen & bug spray!
  • What to wear:  Deck out in your best red, white and blue as we celebrate our beloved country!

Bolton Oil Change Youth Fishing Tournament

Join Bolton Oil Change in their 2nd Annual Fishing Tournament. Bring your own supplies or visit the Cabella’s station where there will be tackle, bobbers and fishing poles available.

Think you can consume the most catfish? How about adding cobbler in the mix? Join Riversmith’s at their Catfish & Cobbler Eating Contest! There is limited space so snag a spot with early registration here!

First Bank & Trust’s Evening Concert

First Bank & Trust presents the finest contemporary artists in the plains, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Lubbock. You will be in awe at these talented performers!

Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Fireworks Extravaganza  

What we all look forward to on the 4th is the fireworks! Pack a lawn chair and gear up for the show. Fireworks will be choreographed to Lubbock’s Youth Symphony Orchestra music for added entertainment. If nothing else, come out and enjoy the magical display that will cover the sky!
