Why You Should Visit Lubbock’s Depot District

Go down into the Depot Entertainment District during your next visit to the Hub City. The headquarters to Lubbock’s thriving nightlife and social scene, this downtown area offers diverse entertainment options that are expanding rapidly.  

With new additions to the bar scene and the same classic spots loved for years, spend an evening or late night down in the Depot District. Two-step the night away to live music, eat and drink some of the city’s finest selections or watch a show at an iconic theatre.

Eat & Drink in the Depot District

1718 Buddy Holly Ave Unit B

This Old West-inspired saloon takes you back in time from the second you walk through the door. For a real show-stopper, order The Amsterdam and watch as the bartender makes this interactive drink in front of you. With a menu full of specialty drinks, there’s something for everyone!

1717 Crickets Ave

This polished and relaxed cocktail parlor is one of the newest editions to the Depot District. An upscale bar with a sophisticated vibe, enjoy a twist on a classic cocktail or try a Bodine original sip. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time! 

901 17th St

Eclectic, funky and fun, this Spain-inspired tapas restaurant will have you never wanting to leave! Stop by for live music and stay for the incredible wine and food pairings. Pro tip: order a pitcher (or two) of the sangria. You can thank us later. 

1807 Buddy Holly Ave

A steakhouse and brewing company in one, Triple J is a downtown staple for live music and delicious eats. The atmosphere makes for a great place for date night, dinner with friends or a big group celebratory dinner. Don’t leave without trying the Choppy Bob Nachos and the Raider Red house-brewed beer.

1615 Texas Ave

Located in an old Coca-Cola bottling plant, this family-run winery opened in the fall of 2008. Plan a tasting or stop by on Thursday evenings for patio night and enjoy live music with your pour of choice.

This outdoor patio bar is a local favorite! Meet up with friends and bring your pups along for a night under the West Texas sky. Food trucks, yard games, live music and more will make a night at The Garden a great time.

Shop in the Depot District

While the Depot District is known for its diverse culture and upbeat nightlife, there is plenty to do by day. One of the best streets downtown, Buddy Holly Avenue is home to several antique shops. In between antique stores, make your way to the new Chilton Mural. Located between Jux-Ta-Posh and Eclectic Finds, this bright wall art pays tribute to Lubbock’s most popular cocktail: The Chilton. Perfect for a photo op, don’t miss the opportunity to stop by and snap a pic for the Gram. 

Enjoy Entertainment in the Depot District

The very first neighborhood movie theater in 1938, the Cactus Theater is now a downtown staple featuring performances from touring artists, tribute bands and local talent. Check out the current lineup and plan your night at the historic Cactus!

Celebrating all things Lubbock’s favorite son, the Buddy Holly Center houses many personal artifacts of the singer. Get an up-close look at the icon’s guitar, motorcycle and infamous glasses.
