Lubbock, Texas isn’t just a great place for families to watch collegiate games, drink world-class wine, and dine at eclectic, farm-to-fork eateries, it’s also a home away from home for your four-legged friend. If you’re traveling to Lubbock this fall, find out how to best experience the “Hub City” with your K-9 in mind!
Who doesn’t enjoy a trip with their furry companion? In Lubbock, many of our local hotels love your pet as much as you do. The new Cotton Court Hotel in downtown Lubbock boasts in being a pet-friendly hot spot while providing a courtyard for you and your pup to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine. Other pet-friendly accommodations in the “Hub City” include Hyatt Place, Staybridge Suites, Hilton Garden Inn and Home2 Suites.
Going out with your tongue out
Lubbock is on the rise for its dog-friendly parks, places and events. You will be pleased to find several restaurants, breweries and wineries that accommodate pets on the patio – many of which provide a bowl of water and/or treat on-site. Some of my top favorite dog-friendly dining options include:
Two Docs Brewing Co.
502 Texas Ave
While enjoying a craft beer, your dog can bask in the sun or lay in the shade at Two Docs Brewing Co. This pet-friendly atmosphere creates a space for dogs and their owners to relax, listen to live music, and play yard games past sunset and into the night.
2009 Broadway Street
Here for a Tech game? Bier Haus, located on Broadway, offers an outdoor patio perfect for any Red Raider fan and their furry friend. This the ideal place to grab a bite and get a good drink before, during or after any game. Each pupper will appreciate the fresh air, turfgrass and cold water bowl provided by the outdoor bar.
5101 82nd Street
If you and your pet get a sweet tooth while you’re here, run by J’s creamery to grab a sundae and a pup cone. Your doggy will have dreams of this delicious dessert for many nights to come. Guaranteed.
Just for the Dogs
If you’re looking for toys, treats, or time to play, there are plenty of places in the LBK that offer pet essentials and luxuries that every good boy is sure to wag their tail for. My top picks for spoiling my best friend include:
Urban Pet Market
4505 98th Street #240
This market is unlike any other pet store in Lubbock. From organic pet food, luxury beds and collars to a mural for your pet to pose with angel wings for the ‘gram, this boutique has the best items to shower your fur baby in.
Wolfforth Farmers Market
8924 County Road 7100
Once you’ve got your toys, grab a leash to hit up the Wolfforth Farmers Market. Open all year, this market is a fun and different place to stroll for both you and your K-9. Plus, you may even find a little something for yourself while you’re out.
Three Dog Bakery
5214 98th Street #103,
This bakery specializes in gourmet treats. Made in-house, these cookies, muffins and biscuits are the only choice for adoption days, pet birthdays, or just because. This bakery also sells nutritious dog treats and organic dog food to take back home to enjoy after your trip.
If you are considering bringing your furry friend on your next trip to Lubbock, don’t hesitate. The “Hub City” is only getting more pet-friendly with time. Let us know your favorite places to take your pup in the comments below and document your next animal outing by using #LiveLoveLubbock!
