Cyndi Lauper said it best. “When the workin’ day is done/Oh girls, they wanna have fun!”
At Visit Lubbock, we know sometimes that’s easier said than done. With busy schedules, it’s easy to write off girls’ night for another time, but what if you could take the stress out of planning?
With this fun and interactive girls’ night itinerary, you only need to pick a date and load up the car!
We’ve broken down the night into four portions: drinks, dinner, dessert and an activity. If you’re already wondering how you’re going to choose where to go, no worries! Whether you stick to one category or participate in all four, we’ve provided you with drool-worthy dining options and low-key activity ideas. The only decision you have to make is: heads or tails? Leave the rest up to us and enjoy a night full of laughter as you make new memories with your best gals.
How it works: When you’re ready to choose your next destination, grab your coin and have one member of your group flip it. Find the category you’re flipping for, and see where the toss takes you.
Drinks
Heads: Two Docs Brewing Co.
Located in Downtown Lubbock, Two Docs is the perfect place to relax and have a casual drink to kick off an evening on the town. With live music, a friendly atmosphere and an outdoor patio, this brewpub is always buzzing with a new food truck or event. Try the Chilton Gose. Similar to an ale, this beer is crisp, salty and lemony. Like its namesake and a Hub City favorite, the Chilton, it’s a crisp, light drink. For a bitter, darker brew, try the Prairie Dog Porter which features notes of chocolate and coffee, leaving you feeling warm and fuzzy.
Tails: The Midnight Shift
A part of the Cotton Court Hotel, this restaurant and bar offer more than just a place to sit and sip. With an open courtyard filled with games, fire pits and plenty of seating, grab a cocktail and head outside to enjoy the West Texas weather. While you can’t go wrong with any of the pours, the TumbleWeed, a mix of Deep Eddy orange vodka, blackberry liqueur, lime juice, and simple syrup is a fan favorite.
Activity
Heads: Clay Cafe
Nothing is more fun than crafting with your friends! Lubbock’s first paint-your-own pottery studio, Clay Cafe is the coziest place to spend a girls’ night. Whether you decide to create matching mementos or curate something to fit your personal aesthetic, from coffee mugs to jewelry trays, there are endless options to spark creativity. If you have a group of 8+, make sure to call ahead.
Tails: Alamo Drafthouse
For a unique movie-watching experience, head to Alamo Drafthouse and catch the latest box office hit or rewatch a loved classic. Make sure to stop by the bar for a nightcap to enjoy during the movie. From award-winning milkshakes to hand-crafted cocktails and over 30 beers on tap, there’s something for everyone! If you’re in the mood for a late-night snack, check out their menu. Bonus: the food is served directly to your seat!
Dinner
Heads: La Diosa Cellars
In the heart of Lubbock’s Depot District, La Diosa Cellars is internationally inspired and locally renowned. This spot is perfect for a light bite like the classic Spanish and Mediterranean tapas and pizzettes. With live music every Friday and Saturday and a rotating wine list selected by an Advanced Sommelier, the ambiance is intentionally set and makes for the perfect setting to share a glass or a bottle in good company.
Tails: Burklee Hill Vineyards
Another downtown classic, Burklee Hill is located in the historic Kress building. An ideal setting for girls’ night, the black and white exterior mural makes the perfect photo background to snap a few pics before heading inside. When dining, order a charcuterie board for the group or snack on the creamy artichoke schmear. The Kress burger and Burklee pizzette are also refined, one-of-a-kind takes on simple classics. Pair dinner with a wine tasting or one of the finely-crafted wine cocktails.
Dessert
Heads: D’lish Sweets & Gelato
This new sweet shop opened in January 2023 and is serving up a variety of baked goods and homemade gelato. After dinner and wine, what’s better than authentic Italian gelato? Pistachio, Giandiuia, Stracciatella and Amarena Cherry are just a few of the crowd-favorite flavors. Stop by for a treat in store or to go to end your girls’ night!
Tails: J’s Creamery
Want to experience the sweetest treat in the 806 without having to leave your car? Turn on your favorite girls’ night playlist and head to the drive-thru or pavilion at J’s Creamery. This locally-owned dessert spot serves the creamiest custard-based treats from concretes to sundaes and everything in between. With seasonal menu items on rotation, there’s always something new to try. Year-round favorites include the wedding cake concrete, vanilla custard with wedding cake chunks swirled within and the salted caramel brownie sundae topped with a cherry.
When the night is done, we hope you can say the girls just had fun! Share your girls’ night memories using #LiveLoveLubbock.
