Anyone who has tried just one bite of a famous DoubleTree by Hilton chocolate chip cookie may not need to hear more on why booking their next stay here is a no-brainer. Soft, warm, and chewy cookies that melt in your mouth are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Lubbock’s newest downtown hotel that sits nearly one mile from the Texas Tech University campus and within walking distance of the world-class theater, The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences. From luxurious rooms with a view of the heart of the “Hub City” to a full-service bar and restaurant, your stay will be one to remember.
The DoubleTree by Hilton offers a shuttle to and from the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport, which is a short five-minute drive.
As guests make their way to check-in at the front desk, the aroma of Chef Antonio Pena’s mouthwatering Americana dishes from the Claraboya Scratch Kitchen Bar welcomes them in, while the modern yet modest decor makes them feel right at home. With the local talent on display at the grand piano and bartenders creating cocktail concoctions, visitors can’t help but count down to when they can make their way back down to the lobby for a social hour.
Now that you have gotten your key card and are heading up to your home away from home, take notice of the gorgeous chandelier hanging under the natural light acting as the focal point of the space, centering each guest as they make their way around the hotel. Other intricate and thoughtful details include the art pieces hanging on the walls that feature the Buddy Holly-style of glasses, lyrics and other nods to Lubbock’s favorite son.
Starting at $126 per night, each of the 140 rooms is outfitted with a choice of plush king or queen beds carefully studied to provide the most comfort and designed to reduce motion transfer, topped with hypoallergenic pillows. Additionally, rooms boast a 50-inch HDTV, complimentary wifi, as well as wireless printing and views of the city that cannot be beaten.
The DoubleTree by Hilton offers guests with a plethora of hotel amenities including a multi-purpose gym with free weights, machines, treadmills and more, complete with a view of the indoor pool. A kid’s dream, the pool includes private cabanas and spa chairs.
I would be remiss if I didn’t share the tasty details of Claraboya Scratch Kitchen Bar. Chef Antonio Pena is a Lubbock legend with delectable talent. With a menu completely curated by the man himself, it is hard to pick just one dish! A few must-try options include the Shrimp Bisque Poutine and Brisket Street Tacos. The Shrimp Bisque Poutine is served with sweet potato chips, green onion, fried cheese curds and a light, yet flavorful shrimp creme. We recommend you pair it with a Two Docs Bock from local brewery, Two Docs Brewing Co.
Speaking of the bar, a complete lineup of local brews and wines grace the menu. While in Lubbock, it would be a tragedy if you were to miss out on the creative and delicious libations crafted by none other than the locals. Luckily for us, happy hour is from 3 to 6 p.m. daily. From Chilton’s to local wines, your glass will be filled with Lubbock’s premier libations.
If you are a meeting planner or in town for a conference, this is the place to be! The DoubleTree by Hilton includes 4,500 square feet of meeting space between four meeting rooms, with the largest being 2,000 square feet. Take a look below for the stats on capacity:
