Having a Good Time in Tech Terrace
There are many charming neighborhoods in Lubbock, but a longtime favorite among students, families, and visitors alike is Tech Terrace. As the name says, the area sits right across from Texas Tech University, stretching from 19th St. and Indiana Avenue out to 34th St. and University Avenue. House hunting or just taking a walk or drive around Tech Terrace is fun, but there are a lot of hidden gems tucked away there too.
Eats + Drinks: Tech Terrace is also home to quite a few must-try spots to grab a bite, a coffee, or a beer.
- J&B Coffee Co. & Good Line Beer Co.: Some of the best brews - coffee or beer - can be found in Tech Terrace. J&B Coffee Co. has been around since the 1970s and is just the place to grab a Caramel Cowboy and study, catch up with a friend, or cozy up with a book. Good Line Beer Co. is newer, but still a local favorite. The brewery makes the beer in-house but regularly switches up the menu. They also host a lot of events throughout the week, like a run club and trivia.
- Brûlée Bakery & Capital Pizza: If you prefer something sweet or savory, you can find both in this part of town. Brûlée Bakery is family-owned and offers a wide variety of pastries, like almond croissants, seasonal scones, and more. They also have a few gluten-free options to choose from. Just across the street, though, you’ll find Capital Pizza. They offer the classic cheese and pepperoni, but they also have some specialty pies on their menu that are a must-try while you're in town.
Shops: Whether you want something unique, something special, or something for your furry friend, you can find it around here.
- Merlin’s Pet Shop | 2609 Boston Ave. Lubbock, TX: For a lot of us, pets are like family, and you want them to be healthy and happy. That’s where Merlin’s Pet Shop comes in. They offer a lot of different products for your pet. Something unique offered at Merlin’s, though, is nutrition education for your furry friends. They're happy to help you find the perfect food to meet your dog's needs.
- Lillie's Bridal Boutique | 2713 26th St., Lubbock, TX: You don’t have to drive a few hours to find the perfect dress for your big day. Just drive a couple of minutes over to Lillie’s Bridal Boutique in Tech Terrace. This local spot offers a wide selection of wedding dresses from the top brands in the business. They’ve helped over 1,000 brides find the dress, so if you’re still on the hunt, you can book an appointment.
Activities: If shopping isn’t your thing, or you want to explore more of Tech Terrace, there are plenty of things to do around the area.
- Z SCULPT | 26th St. & Boston Ave. Lubbock, TX: It seems like everyone is doing Pilates these days, and if you want to see what the hype is all about, just head over to Z SCULPT in the Tech Terrace neighborhood. Instead of the big reformer machine, Z SCULPT offers heated, mat-based workout classes that focus on resistance training, light cardio, and core work.
- Board & Brush Creative Studio | 2604 Boston Ave. Lubbock, TX: Whether you want to DIY or try something new with friends, Board &Brush Creative Studio is worth looking into. They offer different workshops throughout the week so folks can try their hand at all kinds of different projects. You can also book a workshop for events people of all ages can enjoy.
These are just a few favorites you’ll want to check out in the iconic Tech Terrace neighborhood. Let us know your top spots here.
