Fiestas del Llano, Inc. the founding organization behind the ‘El Diez y Sies de Septiembre’ celebration, is excited to host its annual celebration Fiestas Patrias event in Lubbock once again. This cherished celebration commemorates Mexico’s Independence from Spain in 1810, serving as a vibrant reminder of cultural pride and heritage. This year’s event will take place on September 14 and will feature a variety of festivities, all completely free for the community to enjoy!

The celebration this year begins with a parade on Saturday, Sept 14 at 10:00 am.

• Fiestas Patrias Parade will start at First Baptist Church on Broadway & Avenue V traveling east on Broadway up to Avenue M and then turn north up toward eastside of the Civic Center parking lot. All families are encouraged to join us on Broadway to view all of the floats that will be decorated to commemorate and celebrate the Mexican Heritage.
o All businesses, non-profit organizations, schools, any type of clubs, and athletic teams are encouraged to participate for FREE in the parade. No entry fee to participate. Monetary prizes will be awarded for best decorated entry.

Fiesta Patrias Celebrations will begin at 11:00 am-8:00 pm on Saturday, Sept 14 at Buddy Holly Park on N. University & Cesar Chavez Drive at the Gazebo area.
Entertainment will consist of all local bands including traditional Mariachi groups and Folklorico dancers. A big variety of Food Trucks will be on site. Bring your chair and enjoy a free event full of culture. Headliner of the event is Legal Limit beginning at 6:30-8pm.

 Grito de Dolores ceremony will take place Saturday, September 14 at 6:00 p.m. This ceremony is the reenactment of Father Hidalgo’s declaration of Independence from Spain. Dr. Miguel Levario will be reciting the Grito de Dolores.
 Barbacoa Contest -who will win the best tasting Barbacoa? Anyone wanting to enter can find information on our Facebook page.
 Enjoy entertainment and food from various vendors.
