How to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in the Hub City
It’s officially Hispanic Heritage Month! If you find yourself in Lubbock, there are plenty of events happening through October 15th to recognize, honor and celebrate the achievements Hispanic Americans have made throughout history.
Hispanic Heritage Month Reception: The non-profit Los Hermanos Familia is kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month with a Reception on Tuesday, September 15th. They’re hosting this event with several other organizations, including the Hispanic Association of Women, Raiders Rojos, Hispanic Women's Network of Lubbock, Lubbock Latina Business Owners, and Fiestas del Llano Inc. The Hispanic Heritage Month Reception is from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Premiere Cinemas and offers folks a chance to build connections with others in the community. You must register for the event.
Hispanic Heritage Celebration at Patterson Branch Library: The Patterson Branch Library is hosting a celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19th. This year’s theme is “Unidos, Somos Más,” or “Together, we are more.” This all-ages event will include guest speakers Councilwoman Christy Martinez-Garcia and Dr. Jarett Lujan, who will share stories highlighting the vibrant traditions and the beauty of Hispanic culture, as well as the importance of unity.
Magic 106.5 Hispanic Heritage Celebration: Calling all music lovers! On Saturday, September 19th at 6:00 p.m., Magic 106.5 is hosting a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at the Fiesta Center. This event includes performances by Little Joe and Stefani Montie. It will be a night of rich culture, lively music and colorful traditions, where people can connect with friends, dance and have fun. DIY Nichos at Groves Branch Library: Release your inner artist at this Hispanic Heritage event. The Groves Branch Library is hosting DIY Nichos on Friday, September 25th from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Attendees will have the chance to make their own Nicho, which is a 3-D shadow box with a rich history in Latin American Folk Art. This event is for people 10+, and it’s sure to be a fun one!
2026 Raíces Eternas | Eternal Roots Gala: This one is for the ladies! The Lubbock Chapter of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas is hosting Raíces Eternas | Eternal Roots Gala at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion on Saturday, October 10th. Inspired by Día de Los Muertos, this gala fosters connection, celebrates culture and honors Hispanic heritage, as well as women leaders past, present and future. Plus, proceeds from this event go toward scholarships, mentorship and leadership programs empowering women and future Latina leaders.
