Lubbock has long been a top destination for traditional Texas pastimes like football and softball, but it is quickly gaining notoriety for another sport: gymnastics. In the last few years, Lubbock has hosted Olympic gymnasts, regional championships and USA Gymnastics-sanctioned competitions at its venues, which are well-equipped for such events. Needless to say, Lubbock is a gymnastics hot spot that is an ideal place to host your next meet.

Following the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, Lubbock welcomed famous American Olympic gymnasts like Simone Biles, Aly Raisman and Sam Mikulak to the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions. These stars put on an unforgettable show at Texas Tech’s United Supermarkets Arena, astounding sports enthusiasts and inspiring the next generation of gymnasts. With the fans and facilities to make it an outstanding show, Lubbock was one of only 36 cities chosen to host this tour.

Speaking of the next generation, Lubbock has hosted several gymnastics meets for aspiring athletes. Last year, Lubbock hosted the Texas Games at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, where around 200 athletes of all levels competed in this three-day competition sanctioned by USA Gymnastics. More than 2,000 people attended this meet, and it was so successful that Lubbock will host the Texas Games again in 2017. Lubbock has also hosted the annual USA Gymnastics Region 3 Championships, a final qualifier for gymnasts to earn eligibility for the National Championships and U.S. Championships.

If you’re looking to host a meet of your own, you’ll find an impressive range of gymnastics venues in Lubbock:

The United Supermarkets Arena, located on the campus of Texas Tech University, provides an exciting backdrop and all the amenities you’ll need. This multi-purpose facility offers 15,000 seats, a 31,916-square-foot arena floor, locker rooms, a practice court and four meeting rooms.
