Beauty is often found in the small things; a truth that is certainly displayed by one of Lubbock’s newest venues – Social House Venue & Events. The local art, exposed brick, wood beams and modern touches create a beautiful space for a variety of meetings and events. Alayna and Aaron Abbe, originally set out to create a venue to host their triplets’ birthday party. After searching for a venue, Alayna and Aaron, along with Ashley, Alayna’s sister, decided that the venue shouldn’t limit itself to parties of pink and glitter; they wanted to create a venue that also welcomed monster trucks as well as more sophisticated celebrations.

After discussing this idea with local caterer and friend Jessica Murray from Heart and Soul Cuisine, they decided to add another medium-sized venue to the “Hub City.” As they set out to create Social House, each facet of the project was centered on their family. Leaving a legacy for the girls was first and foremost the focus.

Social House was designed to be a modern, versatile space for a variety of celebrations including bridal showers, weddings, meetings, Christmas parties along with birthday parties. The small details of the space such as the entryway chandelier create an industrial taste as the walls are adorned with modern art from Coyote Candle Co.

The venue includes two separate spaces for planners to book: the gallery and the ballroom. Both spaces are available to reserve together or separately. Two separate events can be operated at the same time. Rental fees for the spaces include tables, chairs, linens, Wi-Fi and audio setup. For small meetings, the gallery provides a Smart TV while the ballroom comes equipped with a projector and screen.

The gallery can host 80 people in banquet style and boasts four stunning mirrors which line the west wall, a stone fireplace and a chandelier. Guests can enter the room through two separate entries providing easy access for the caterer as well.

The largest space, the ballroom, can accommodate close to 220 guests in banquet style. With three garage doors opening to an outdoor space, the ballroom offers the beauty of three chandeliers, exposed brick and sliding wood doors, along with the industrial influence of Edison light bulbs and concrete floor. On the west wall, a small window peeks into the adjacent media booth for a DJ and sound system.

The venue offers a bride’s and a groom’s room for the wedding party. As for food, the Social House offers Heart and Soul Cuisine as the in-house caterer and provides a discount for the venue and catering if booked together. Outside caterers are allowed for an additional fee and can utilize the separate caterer’s kitchen.
