Summer has officially started! When you’re not out trying out these must-have “Hub City” cocktails or checking off the Top Things to do This Summer, you have to visit these incredible new spots.

Tacos Locos

The Plaza Restaurant & Bar

This is the definition of Panhandle cuisine. Not only does their menu have all your Tex-Mex favorites, but it offers juicy steaks and burgers that don’t feel out of place next to rellenos and enchiladas.

Location: 4910 Emory St.

The splash pad and slides are highlights for families looking to cool down.

Sun ‘n Fun

The town has been buzzing about YWCA at Sun ‘n Fun. The location has a full-size gym, meeting rooms, concessions, a climbing wall, racquetball court, beach-style pool, lap lanes and gardens.  Take classes or come for a day. You are sure to have a blast.

Location: 3101 35th St.

Define Body and Mind

Define Body and Mind is one of the newest fitness adventures that Lubbock has to offer. Here you’ll find everything from a cardio-intensive spin class called Define Revolution, as well as classes that focus on strength and flexibility while incorporating moves from yoga, barre and pilates.

Location: 4413 82nd St., Suite 130

Roosters Truck Yard

From street tacos to pizza, your stomach will leave pleased.

Rooster’s Food Truck Yard

After a day of swimming, you’re sure to be hungry. Refuel at Lubbock’s first truck yard. The fine folks at Ya Makin’ Me Hungry, who make possibly the best gyro you’ve ever eaten, have gathered up their friends in the food truck community to rotate out, giving you something new to try every time. There’s plenty of shaded seating and oftentimes tailgate games will be set up to play.

Location: 1602 Main St.

Emerald Empire Tattoo and Tattoo Removal

After chowin’ on some street tacos, stay downtown and get a new tattoo or remove an old one. They are the only studio in Texas that has incorporated tattoo laser removal into the studio. With an environment more like a doctor’s office than a tattoo shop and all original artwork, Emerald Empire is worth the trip into town for anyone wanting quality ink.

Location: 1108 Main St.
