Lubbock, Texas is in the Spotlight featuring the Most Music Venues Per Capita in the Lone Star State

In Lubbock, Texas, we proudly hold the title as the city with the most live music venues per capita in the Lone Star State. Music lovers from across the country and around the world meet in the “Hub City” to experience the rich and evolving culture of our thriving music scene. Whether you prefer to rock out with a craft beer or enjoy West Texas wine as jazz plays in the background, Lubbock’s local talent is highly esteemed and in the spotlight nightly. Take a look below for a few of our favorite venues to rock out this summer! 

Buddy Holly Center 
Each summer, the Buddy Holly Center dominates Lubbock’s music scene on Thursday nights. Visitors of the Summer Showcase enjoy live music in the Meadows Courtyard from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This event is free to the public and a great night out option with the family. High Noon
Hosted by the City of Lubbock, High Noon takes place every Wednesday at noon from June to August at the Lubbock County Courthouse Gazebo. With food trucks and plenty of green space, listen to local talent and enjoy an hour downtown during your lunch break! 

Cactus Theater 
From local talents to national touring acts, the Cactus Theater has it all. This historic theater that was originally a 1930s movie house features shows for the whole family and is an option for a date night! Located in the Depot District in downtown Lubbock, Cactus Theater brings Lubbock’s night to life under the marquee lights. 

Midnight Shift at Cotton Court Hotel 
Named after a Buddy Holly record, the Midnight Shift is the ideal venue in downtown Lubbock. With live music on the weekends, guests and locals alike can experience local talent in the courtyard. An experience like no other across the city, escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the natural ambiance of the Midnight Shift near the firepits or the pool with a specialized cocktail and delicious food. 

The Blue Light Live! 
The infamous Blue Light Live!, located in the Depot District, boasts a happening nightlife, delicious drinks and is the ideal stage for musicians to take center stage. With singer-songwriter night every Monday, up-and-coming musicians in the “Hub City” are given the opportunity to step into the spotlight. Make your way downtown to this local weekend favorite and marvel in the talent of Lubbock’s brilliant artists.

barPM
Located on University Avenue across from Texas Tech University’s campus, barPM is an unexpected hotspot that will take you by surprise. With a unique menu that highlights refreshing drinks and delectable light bites, this bar is inviting to all who enjoy great music and a more intimate feel.

Charley B’s
Get ready to break a sweat! At Charley B’s, music lovers are encouraged to put on their boots and show their skills on the dancefloor. A music venue and bar, Charley B’s is inviting to all. Whether you are a college student ready to rock out or a local looking to show off your line-dancing skills, this local bar and dancehall gives visitors the opportunity to experience major headlining acts and local names alike.

The Funky Door and Wine Bistro 
An upscale dining experience that boasts an extensive wine menu, The Funky Door and Wine Bistro offers nightly live music. For those who enjoy a more moody atmosphere, The Funky Door is a great option as it has both indoor and outdoor seating, including dining in the loft. With top of the line food, service and music, this is the place to be for a more personalized feel. 

Triple J Chophouse and Brew Co.
It wouldn’t be a true visit to Lubbock without a trip to Triple J Chophouse! Giving foodies a true West Texas dining experience, as well as specialty, house-made craft beer, live music makes the atmosphere come to life!
