Red Raider Football
Football is king in Texas, and it has nothing to do with coach Kingsbury. Well, maybe just a little bit. Either way, armed with an upstart young coaching staff, the Red Raiders are looking to improve upon their 8-5 season that was capped with a come-from-behind win against the Minnesota Gophers at the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas. Be sure to save the date for a few of their huge home games this year, including matchups against TCU, Kansas State and Oklahoma State.
With their rambunctious and outspoken coach Tom Stone, on the sideline, the Lady Raider soccer team is ready to make their mark in the Big 12. After a historic run to the NCAA tournament, the Lady Raiders opened the 2013 season in the Top 25 in the country. With Big 12 rookie of the year Janine Beckie on the field, the Red Raiders are looking to score some serious goals this year. This may be the season the Red Raiders can make a run at the Big 12 championship.
On the hardwood, both the men and women’s basketball teams will have plenty of new faces as well. The legendary, Tubby Smith, will take over on the men’s side, while the Lady Raiders will welcome their new head coach, Candace Whitaker. Stay tuned for their upcoming schedules on www.texastech.com.
Baseball and Softball
And if you like peanuts and crackerjacks, you’ll find everything you’d like at the Texas Tech men’s baseball or Lady Raider softball games. Dan Law Field has always been a great venue with rowdy fans and a home run friendly ballpark.
Tennis anyone? As the reigning Big 12 champions, the Lady Raider tennis team always brings their “A” game. If you can keep up with their blazing fast serves, this is the game for you.
