61st Annual TTU Carol of Lights
Date: December 3
Time: 6 – 8 p.m.
Where: Memorial Circle and Science Quad on TTU Campus
With the flip of a switch, more than 25,000 colored lights illuminate 18 buildings around Memorial Circle, the Engineering Key and the Broadway Entrance to the campus during Texas Tech University’s Carol of Lights. The Tech Trombone Choir, under the direction of Jim Decker, will accompany the Texas Tech University Combined Choirs.
The lights will be turned on every night from dusk (approximately 6:30 p.m.) until midnight from December 3, 2019, through January 2, 2020.
The Overton Hotel Annual Gingerbread Display and Letters to Santa
Date: December 3 – 31
Time: All Day
Where: 2322 Mac Davis Lane, Lubbock, Texas 79401
Don’t forget the Overton Hotel is also the official mail stop for your Santa letters. There are letters available for kids to write and mail, or kids are welcome to bring them from home. Enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and photo ops with the gingerbread display.
South Plains Nativity
Date: December 5 – 8

This Christmas season, come celebrate the birth of the Savior of all mankind at the 11th annual South Plains Nativity. Join us for a series of art exhibits, musical performances, crafts and dress up for kids, and special presentations heralding the birth and life of Jesus Christ. All faiths, ages, families, and walks of life are invited to attend.
Holiday at the Museum

Holiday Wonderland at the Science Spectrum Omni Theater

Santa Land at Mackenzie Park

Families will enjoy live entertainment most evenings from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Hot chocolate and other refreshments are available for sale at the concession stand. Parents are welcome to bring cameras to take photos of their children with Santa at no charge. For those who forget their cameras, keepsake digital photos may be purchased for $5 each. The entrance to Santa Land is located off of the East Broadway entrance into Mackenzie Park east of Avenue A and the South Plains Fairgrounds.
Candle Light at the Ranch
Date: December 13 – 14

Visitors to the National Ranching Heritage Center will step into a “living Christmas card” from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Dec. 13-14 when the 41st Annual Candlelight at the Ranch recreates a frontier holiday similar to those on the open prairie from 1780 to 1950. The event will include more than 4,000 luminaries lining the paths of the historic park as volunteer Ranch Hosts dress in period clothing to recreate holiday scenes from another era.
Polar Express Carnival Night
Date: December 14
Time: 6 – 8 p.m.

Mae Simmons Community Center will be hosting its 3rdAnnual Polar Express Carnival Night! Bring the kids to a Christmas carnival with games, crafts, and a selfie booth. At 7:00 p.m., we will begin showing the Christmas movie, Polar Express, on our large, 13-foot tall movie screen. Kids can come dressed up in their pajamas and enjoy hot chocolate and a cookie during the movie. Concessions will also be available. This is a free, family-friendly event and is open to all ages.
