TEXAS TECH FAMILY WEEKEND

Guns up! Family Weekend is an exciting Texas Tech tradition dating back to 1936 and there are many exciting events and activities for the whole family to attend in the “Hub City.” From live music in the heart of Lubbock’s Cultural District to cheering on the Red Raiders at Jones AT&T Stadium, or on the big screen, show off your new home away from home to those you love most. We invite all students and their families to paint the town red with us for Family Weekend at Texas Tech University!

Texas Tech Public Art Collection

Kick off the weekend with a tour of Texas Tech’s campus. The Spanish architecture is complemented by over 100 works of art located throughout the grounds of each new building. Since the mid 90s, Texas Tech has dedicated 1% of all funding for new buildings and landscaping projects to a public art piece that is to be constructed near the project. This adds an artistic flare to any walk around campus! Be sure to stop by the Zephyr, an eclectic, multi-purpose piece located on the eastern part of campus.

Football

Jones AT&T Stadium

Touchdown! Join the crowd of roaring fans at the Jones AT&T Stadium and watch Texas Tech play Kansas State at 11:00 a.m. Be sure to use the code FAMILY21 for a $25 ticket. Before the big game, you won’t want to miss out on all of the tailgating festivities. Whether you are in the mood for a pregame snack or looking to show off to your loved ones with a hyped up song from The Goin’ Band from Raider Land, spending your morning near University Avenue and Broadway is an experience you won’t want to miss.

Caprock Cafe

If you aren’t looking to attend the big game in person, no worries! Lubbock boasts a plethora of restaurants that will stream on the big screen. For a complete “Hub City” gameday Saturday morning, head over to Caprock Cafe on 34th Street and order a cold glass of beer on tap to pair with a delectable, gourmet burger. A trip to Caprock isn’t complete without an order of the queso. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. A perfectly cheesy dip with the right amount of spice, Caprock Cafe is known for its local-favorite queso.

Two Docs Brewing Co.

Speaking of beer; Two Docs Brewing Co. is a local craft brewery that took Lubbock’s craft beer scene by storm. What started as a garage brewing hobby turned into a massive success located downtown. This pet and family friendly spot boasts a lively patio lined with local food truck fare, a stage for live music and flat screen TVs to enjoy our favorite team as they take on Kansas State. For those under 21, the homemade root beer is a must-try!

The Range

A great nightlife activity for everyone to enjoy, The Range features the best of golfing, yard games, food and drinks to enjoy a cool fall night under the twinkling lights! Bring along your four-legged friend and hit a long drive at this Lubbock golfing hotspot. Whether you are a beginner or expert golfer, choose from over 60 tees with covered bays to show off your skills! After teeing up your last ball, make sure to get in a round of cornhole and pit washers for some more friendly competition.
