About

Join poet Vera Gómez who will discuss the “Power of Words”, share her work and lead an interactive discussion and immersive writing exercise on why and how poetic sounds surround you every day. A habitual border-crosser between her American upbringing and Mexican heritage, Vera is a workshop facilitator, performance poet and a teaching poet. Her poetry chapbook, Barrio Voices, was published in 2008 and her work has appeared in State of the Heart: Carolina Writers on the Places They Love, Volume II; ARCHIVE; Ties that Bind; Quintet; Kakalak and the Emrys Journal. She supports collaborative work, and in 2019 curated a bilingual reading, Voces Nuevas – Raising Latinx Voices in South Carolina for the Deckle Edge Literary Festival. She also introduced “Improv Poetry” at Read Up, Greenville! in 2017.
