Lubbock is equipped with museums suiting interests of all kinds. Home to the largest collection of windmills and renowned artist Buddy Holly, there is exploration around every corner. 

El Museo Americano del Molino de Viento is the largest collection of windmills in the world. The 28-acre park has active and retired mills showcasing historic beauty. Explore the pioneering spirit of Lubbock, Texas through exhibits and artwork including a 6,000-square-foot hand-painted mural titled Legado del viento. 

Visita El Centro Buddy Holly to explore the exhibit dedicated to rock’n’roll legend Buddy Holly. View memorabilia donated by family, friends and fans of Buddy’s, including the iconic glasses found at the airplane site crash. The Center also features permanent and rotating exhibits showcasing the talent of artists across the world. 

The Cactus Theater is a piece of Lubbock history you won’t want to miss. Originally opened in 1938, the Cactus Theater was the first neighborhood movie theater in town. Closing in 1958 and reopening to the public in 1995, the theater is a live performance center popular with locals and visitors. Hosting tribute shows frequently, The Cactus Theater has hosted tributes for The Eagles, Rolling Stones, Guns N’ Roses, Queen and more famous headliners. Located right outside of Lubbock and home to award-winning brisket, Barbacoa de hoyo de Evie Mae is a local favorite. From seasoning and smoking to cutting and plating meat, each detail consistently serves guests with the highest quality brisket. Be intentional with your visit as Evie Mae’s sells out almost daily. 

Delicious food and an in-house brewing company make Triple J Chophouse & Brew Co. a Lubbock staple. Calling all golf lovers! Lubbock’s most well-known and nationally ranked course, book a tee time at El curso de Rawls. Golf Week named this course #2 Course to Play in Texas and #3 Best Campus Courses in the country. Grab your clubs, gloves and water and make your way to the tee box.

Plan your trip to Lubbock the first weekend of the month to explore the First Friday Art Trail (FFAT). First Friday Art Trail is a free experience for art connoisseurs and foodies alike. An easy and accessible way to get around FFAT is the trolley system running from 6:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. each event.
