Destination Spotlight: The Wine Nest

Christi Henderson was first introduced to the wine industry by the “godfather” of Texas wine Dr. Clinton ‘Doc’ McPherson during an educational wine class. From the fundamentals of opening a bottle to the profiles of certain varietals, Doc inspired Christi’s love for wine and launched West Texas into the grape-growing business. With a passion for the industry, Christi created a premier destination for wine enthusiasts. Currently, The Wine Nest curates a wine collection of more than 300 bottles from across the world.

Known as the local “Cheers,” The Wine Nest is a destination where visitors feel right at home. In fact, the name is a blend of Christi’s two favorite things: home life and wine. Christi, along with her husband Jimmy, select wines guests might not find anywhere else in Lubbock. And not only will guests enjoy a curated list, The Wine Nest sells its bottles at retail cost because as they see it, you’re family.

After opening at their new location on Slide Road, the Hendersons added craft beer and small plates to the menu. With tapas-style dining, the dishes include: flatbreads, deviled eggs, bone marrow and more. The menu changes weekly but continues to offer some of their guests’ favorites.

On Thursdays, guests can enjoy local, live music from 6 – 8 p.m., and starting in mid-April, live music will play on Saturdays; not to mention, the patio will open in late spring.

If you are looking for a gift for a friend, The Wine Nest also offers items like gourmet chocolates, wine glasses, candles and quirky kitchen towels.
