We are days away from the most adored holiday and if you are struggling with what to get your Valentine this year, we have you covered! Lubbock is a hot spot for luxury gifts, elegant treats and intimate dining options, making your night out, or in, one to be remembered.
To begin, reservations at your favorite restaurant or bistro is always a good place to start. We recommend The Funky Door Bistro & Wine Room. Whether you prefer in-house dining or ordering to-go, this is a great option for Sunday’s festivities. While there, make sure to order a glass of your favorite local wine.
Featuring a plethora of varietals, you will want to take home a bottle or two with you! If you prefer a medium body white, the McPherson Cellars Roussanne and Llano Estacado Winery Chardonnay are great choices. For those who prefer something a little heartier, order the Burklee Hill Montepulciano. With fresh tasting notes of cherry and blackberry, this is an ideal aged french barrel oak pour. If you are looking to get a little festive, we cannot praise the English Newsom Cellars Rainy enough. This is one you may need a bottle of!
While enjoying the wine, start with a Charcuterie Board to pair. Highlighting local Texas honey, a variety of crackers and meats, and West Texas cheeses, this is the perfect segway into the main course. If you haven’t tried the fondue, what are you doing?! The ouse-made croutons take this sharable to the next level. Choose from their selection of three dips including the Fiesta, which is melted pepper jack cheese, pacifico beer and tequila; the Funky Door highlighting smoked gouda and caraway; and, my favorite, the Spinach Artichoke made with parmesan cheese, cream cheese, fresh spinach and artichoke hearts.
Next, it’s time to plan on where to pick up your partner a Valentine’s classic, yet beloved gift – a bouquet of flowers. Lubbock boasts a wide variety of talented local floral shops. From the Floral Shop at any Market Street and United Supermarkets to The Fig & Flower Co., Grayce Floral, and Marble & Company, the 806 has you covered.
Pair your flowers with a sweet treat from the Ruffled Cup! Whether it’s chocolate-covered strawberries, the local favorite sugar cookies or a cupcake to share (or not to share), this year’s featured holiday menu includes a “Love Box,” which is almost as sweet as the person receiving it!
Purchasing a thoughtful gift from a local retailer will go a long way. If you are in the market for jewelry, stop by J Keith’s for your selection of ornate and timeless rings, earrings, and bracelet, or a statement piece necklace. Trust me when I say Kendra Scott is a girl’s best friend. For a complete collection, head over to j.hoffman’s on 50th street. Not only do they have a wide variety of trendy jewelry, but the clothing and accessories also make for a great gift as well!
Speaking of stylish clothing and accessories, Signature Stag is my one-stop-shop when looking to up the wardrobe of my favorite guy. If you are anything like me, finding a gift for the man in my life has always been a struggle. Luckily, with shops like Mountain Hideaway or the Outdoorsman, I can find the ideal gift for a man of many hobbies.
Lubbock offers its fair share of luxury experiences as well. Nothing is more romantic than a couple’s massage and where better to go than Woodhouse Day Spa? Plan a day filled with pampering or schedule a blissful hour of Swedish massages, organic facials and pedicures!
