Lubbock’s high-temperature weeks are well-deserving of a cooldown on the weekends. Good thing for us, Lubbock has just what we need to beat this West Texas heat. One hundred degrees has never felt so good as you splash your way through the wave pool, effortlessly float down a lazy river or paddle around a lake. Sit back and sip on that daiquiri as we take it from here. The only thing you will need to do is put on sunscreen!

Lubbock Water Rampage
Water Rampage is all the rage this summer. With three different themed pools to choose from – Pirates Cove, Carribean Adventure and Lost World – swimmers will be endlessly entertained.

Ship’s ahoy at the Pirates Cove! This pool is the pirate captain’s dream. Enjoy a “walk down the plank” on one of the waterslides, but watch out for the dumping bucket!

Catch some waves at the Caribbean Adventure big wave and baby pool! Movie Nights featured in the big wave pool are $12 per person and includes a free tube. Movie showings are from 7 – 10 p.m. Be sure to grab some movie treats at Captain Morgan’s Rum Point before the show begins!

If you are looking for a more relaxing experience, float down the Lazy River into the Lost World pool! This is a great option for parents who want to wind down while keeping an eye on the kiddos at The Pirate Village.

For those who are interested in hosting a party, pavilions are for rent for a birthday or celebration for $55-$75. There is a minimum of 15 pirates and discount rates are available. Cake, cupcakes and a cooler of water is allowed! For all other food-related needs, catering is available through the snack bar.

Water Rampage is open from noon to 6 p.m. everyday until August 18. It is located at 6602 Marsha Sharp Freeway. For more information, visit lubbockwaterrampage.com

Texas Tech University Leisure Pool
The Red Raiders house the largest leisure pool on a collegiate campus in the United States! With a 645-foot lazy river, 25-person hot tub, 10-foot drop slide, eight-lane lap pool and other amenities for students and guests, this pool is the perfect place to cool down. While there, enjoy a refreshing drink at Sam’s Poolside Cafe.

The Texas Tech University Leisure Pool summer hours are Monday – Friday from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m and Saturday – Sunday from noon – 6 p.m. For more information, visit the Texas Tech Recreation Center’s website at depts.ttu.edu/recsports/facilities/hours.php.

SupLBK
With 76.5 acres of water, Dunbar Historic Lake is home to SupLBK, a stand-up paddleboarding company. Staring at the Upper Fork of the Lower Fork of the Brazos River, SupLBK offers a short three-minute tutorial or a two-hour intro class before releasing you onto the lake. Take in the beautiful landscape while paddling around with friends! Other classes offered on the lake include fitness classes, yoga or racing. For more information, visit suplbk.com.
