Have you ever been surrounded by hundreds of butterflies flying freely? Has one ever made a “pit stop” on your shoulder? The Butterflies Alive! exhibit at the Science Spectrum & OMNI Theater is the perfect place to experience these majestic creatures! The exhibit closes Wednesday, June 12 so make your way over there soon!

On a recent trip to the exhibit, I had the chance to encounter many different species of butterflies and watch them in their habitat. One of the more popular species featured in the exhibit is the Monarch butterfly. In fact, the Monarch population is at an all time low, which is more of a reason to check out these beauties now.

The butterflies are kept in a climate-controlled, 3000-square-foot greenhouse inside the Science Spectrum. The exhibit is a beautiful walk-through that both kids and adults alike will enjoy. There’s even a house for growing cocoons where you can watch butterflies emerge and learn to use their wings.

For those in town during National Travel and Tourism Week, the Science Spectrum & OMNI Theater is offering $2 off the Butterflies Alive! exhibit, a museum ticket purchase and an OMNI Theater purchase (three event combo). Be sure to play the Live Love Lubbock Itinerary Game to get the discount and a sticker at the location.

I highly recommend this exhibit while it’s in town! Check out this video we created when walking with the butterflies.
