Q: How did Charley B’s come about?
A: Charley B’s is a dream that has been years in the making. Lubbock needed a large dance hall that would allow for great concerts while also keeping the dance floor clear. While traveling to other cities, I always imagined having something like Billy Bob’s in Forth Worth or Cowboys in San Antonio–something large and unique in Lubbock. So last year, when the time was right, we set about making plans for Charley B’s!
Q: What makes this venue unique?
A: Charley B’s is unlike anything else you can find in Lubbock. With over 27,000 square feet, a dedicated stage viewing area and a very large wooden dance floor, we are the largest dance hall in Lubbock. We consistently have big name bands playing, and people are always able to kick up their heels in the separate dance floor area. We are also the only non-smoking dance hall in Lubbock, adding a level of comfort to the large crowds. We have two upstairs VIP areas that overlook the stage and crowd, providing an entirely new perspective for concerts. Our venue was named after Charley B, the only mechanical bull available to ride weekly in Lubbock, and we continue to add new features every month!
Q: Why is this a must-see for visitors to Lubbock?
A: We are definitely a unique venue for visitors to check out. In addition to the reasons listed above about what makes us so unique, we have lots of artwork and murals painted on the walls that I’m sure visitors would enjoy.
Q: Can you talk about the caliber of concerts that you host, as well as other events?
A: At least one night per week, we host a big name band at Charley B’s. This is unprecedented in Lubbock. Our concerts are truly a wonderful experience, backed by a professional sound and lighting crew. When we’re not hosting a big name band, we present local talent as often as possible. What really sets our concerts apart from other venues is the ability for the attendees to get within a few feet of the stage without interfering with any of the other areas of enjoyment at Charley B’s. We are also opening our doors to charity events to help raise funds in the local area, including the School of Rock and The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge of Lubbock.
Q: What concerts are coming up that people can’t miss?
A: We have some great stuff booked this summer and are booking more on a daily basis! We specifically have two amazing concerts coming up in July: Stoney LaRue and Jamey Johnson!
Q: What does the future of the venue look like?
A: We plan to continue in the direction we’ve been heading. Lots more concerts, lots more unique events and lots of good times!
