2013 Holiday Happening

If you can’t believe it’s already September, then December will more than likely be on the doorstep in what seems like just a week! In my opinion, it’s never too early to start shopping (or planning to shop) for holiday gifts. One of the best ways to do this each year is at the Junior League of Lubbock’s annual Holiday Happening!

HolidayHappening2012_overview-webWe’re talking five days of shopping extravaganza where you’ll find special items for the kids, your spouse, grandparents, friends, co-workers and much more. Here’s a snapshot of the 2013 Holiday Happening:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 20 – Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, 1501 Mac Davis Lane
  • 136 merchants from across the country come together to fulfill your shopping needs!
  • Sneak Peek: Wednesday, Nov. 20 – A pre-shopping party featuring food, fashion and a special raffle.
  • Ladies Day: Thursday, Nov. 21 – Enjoy a premier style show and finish with a day of shopping.
  • Breakfast with Santa: Friday, Nov. 22 and Saturday, Nov. 23 – See special Christmas ponies and hear a story from Mrs. Claus herself!

This year, in addition to the annual events, the Junior League of Lubbock is proud to announce their collaboration with Lubbock Moonlight Musicals and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. Throughout the week-long events, evening shows of Les Miserables will dazzle in the Civic Center theatre. Food court vendors will be open to accommodate those attending the show. Guests should come early to shop, stay for dinner and then enjoy a full stage version of Les Miserables!

Every Junior League event and all Holiday Happening Market Hall (main shopping) ticket sales go to fund the projects of and supported by the Junior League of Lubbock. These include Food2Kids, in which sacks of food are sent home on Fridays during the school year to children identified as being potentially at high risk for suffering from hunger during the weekend. Other programs include Kids in the Kitchen, Community Action Grants and the Junior League of Lubbock’s newest program, SPARK.
