American Wind Power Center (AWPC) is a dynamic museum for the American-style water-pumping windmills. The museum is located on 28 acres of rolling city park land in the Yellow House Canyon of Lubbock. More than 150 rare and fully restored windmills are on display in an interpretive center and on the grounds. The 6,000 sq.ft. "Legacy of the Wind Mural" decorates the events venue. The museum also has on display many hand pumps, models, photographs and other windmill artifacts. The AWPC also houses a museum store with models of windmills, books, T-shirts, caps and other items related to windmills.

With all the talk about wind power and new technology this place was a real treat! I learned a lot about how windmills played a vital role in the development of this area! Wonderful venue and great collection!
